The kinds of media he likes can tell you a lot about a man’s personality.  If he tell you he’s into a certain story or musical genre and explains why he likes it, you can start to see elements of his personality. 

It’s also an easy, concrete question for a shy guy to answer and ask you in return.

3. “If you could ask me anything, what would you ask?” 

A slightly dangerous question, this phrase demands that you be ready to accept any answer he might give.  It opens the door for him to ask about your political beliefs, your sexual and emotional needs, your background, and much more. 

You have to let yourself agree not to judge him based on his curiosity though. 

If he says “I don’t know”, he probably truly doesn’t have any questions burning on his mind about you.

4. “Have you ever gone skydiving/ been to the Taj Mahal/ made homemade ice cream?” 

Ask him if he’s done something novel and different that you would either like to do or have done yourself.  This is a whimsical question. 

Above all, remember to keep the first date light.  It’s just a date, not an interrogation.
